What is a Trustee?

A Trustee is any person who holds property, authority, or a position of trust or responsibility for the benefit of another and, particularly in the case of an Offshore Trust, includes a person or company that :

  1. Declares that he/she/it is holding property on Trust for another
  2. Accepts a transfer of property at the request of the Settlor of a Trust; and
  3. Agrees to be responsible for managing a Trust and its assets for the benefit of the beneficiaries in accordance with common law duties and the terms of the Trust Deed.
